Freedom

Today is a glorious day, the sun is shining, the sky is the bluest blue and it is not unbearably hot. I am actually sitting here draped in a blanket because it’s cool in the house. However, these aren’t the reasons for why this is such a glorious day; what makes this day so wonderful is that ALL my children are at school for the first time! All of them, from my first grader to my senior.

I know that the appearance of the first tooth is an event and the first step is a great accomplishment but honestly, I think the day that the parents look forward to the most is when you can send your youngest off to school and have the whole (almost) to your self in peace! I was a little emotional since this is the first day of a very long school life for him, but that lasted all of twenty seconds and the rest of the time it was feelings of pure exuberance! Freedom.

What will I be doing with all this freedom? I have plans. I think the Botanic Gardens are calling my name and the art museum. Random lunch dates with my husband are most definitely warranted. I’ll take in some window shopping just so I can enjoy it in peace! A hike or walk around the trails and park to get in some exercise will be nice or a quick trip up a mountain. Fall will be here in Colorado soon, and that means that the mountains will be bursting forth in vibrant hues of gold, amber and red. I can envision my days….

BUT, here’s the reality, it’s still Ramadan for another two weeks, that means no lunch dates, no sprints up mountains or walking on trails, no window shopping and definitely, no art museum. Instead, I have laundry reaching the ceiling of my bathroom, two and a half months of holiday mess lying around the house, a Dyson collecting dust along with everything else in my house. We could classify my house as some ancient artefact considering the amount of dust that has accumulated. Yes, unfortunately, this is the reward for freedom *sigh*

It’s just as well I guess considering how much money I spent over the weekend getting ready for back to school for four. All I can do at this point is sit at home and commiserate over the state of my bank account. I think I shall have to commiserate while doing a load of laundry…damn, don’t even have time to sit down…

Hope everyone had or will be having soon, a pleasant back to school experience. I shall now go and start my huge list of chores 🙁

Thank you for reading and have a great week!

Hey. Nazneen! After a big push on the housework and laundry I hope you sit down to rest for a while. A nap would not be a crime, either!
I know you cannot have a refreshing cup of tea but those days are coming back fast. I am enjoying my last days of “freedom,” because I go back to school on August 26th. (to work, that is) I love my job and look forward to all the darling children. You should have at least one day of just relaxing now. It’s a guilty pleasure but one you have earned.

That’s funny you should say that because after a very productive day, the day after was a total dud! I barely did anything and couldn’t focus to work on my room. Oh well. Atleast the downstairs looks nice and neat…for now.
